Course Summary

Postpartum Traditions
Honoring the Mother. Nourishing the Baby. Restoring the Village.

Postpartum Traditions is a hands-on mini birthwork class exploring traditional ways of caring for mothers and babies during the sacred postpartum period.  In this class, we will reconnect with ancestral traditions and practical therapies that support healing, physical recovery, nourishment, emotional restoration, and spiritual well-being after birth. Participants will learn how traditional cultures have honored the mother’s transition into motherhood and surrounded her with care, rest, food, and community.  This interactive class includes hands-on make-and-take activities, where participants will prepare nourishing foods and supportive remedies that can be created for postpartum mothers and their families.

Participants will leave with practical knowledge, simple recipes, traditional healing practices, and a deeper understanding of how doulas and birthworkers can help create a nurturing postpartum village.
